Makes the Dream Work
Saturday, February 25 2023 - Bolingbrook Raider Indoor InviteDriving home from Bolingbrook the bus was rocking, the guys were singing together and laughing together. That signals that this is a team that is together. Not only was that seen on the bus but at the meet at as well. The final event was triple jump and the team rallied around Kedan Strickland who was having an off-day but put together his best jump with his team lining the runway and cheering him on to take 2nd overall in the triple jump. Kedan’s performance was 1 of 3 2nd place finishes on the day. Christian Martin unleashed his best for last as well, as he launched a 71 cm PR in the shot put to finish 2nd. The other 2nd place finish was the 4x800 of Harlan Matson, Tyler Schick, Arnold Arce, and Tyler Weir.
The top finishes were not the only highlights as 12 athletes recorded personal bests on the day. Joining Martin in the shot put with a PR was sophomore Justin Bannister. James Kulekowskis got in on the field jump PR action with a PR in the long jump. Harlan Matson lead off the 4x800 with a lifetime best relay split. Arnold Arce ran a PR in the second leg of his Crazy 8s double, running nearly even splits to finish 6th overall.
The race of the day on the distance side was Luke Adair who shaved nearly a minute off of his PR to run 10:37, becoming our 4th athlete this week to break 10:40 in the 3200. Other distance runners who had PRs were Aden Veljacic who edged ever so close to sub 3 in the 800 with an 3:06. Wyatt Fullam continues his rapid progress with a big PR in the 800 running 2:36. Big S Saaransh Amin took a huge chunk out of his PR in the 400. Cameron Krankel and Nathanial Ikharehon both ran PRs in the 200. Tyler West ran a PR split in the 4x400 and the final PR was the final leg of the last race on the track as Bryan Underwood caught two runners to anchor the 4x400 relay to a 3rd place finish with a PR leg.
The team has 10 days off from competition before the heart of the indoor schedule kicks into high gear at Wheaton South on March 9th.
