Records Made to Be Broken

Saturday, March 25 2023 - Proviso East Pirate Classic (At Proviso West)

A busy few weeks concluded with our final indoor meet at Proviso West. The Pirate Midwest Classic was a great conclusion to the indoor season, with a lot of newcomers to the Wildcat track team brining great performances.

The frosh/soph relays brought the heat, with the highlight being the 4x200 of Torrance Freeman, Scott Freischlag, Alex Haberkamp, and Stephon Griffin breaking the school record in the 4x200 relay. Alex stepped up big with a big breakthrough leg on the 3rd leg of the race. They also finished 2nd overall. The 4x400 frosh/soph relay also finished 2nd (Freeman, Freischlag, Jake Michel, and Tyler Weir) Jake Michel ran nearly a 2 second PR on his leg.

Christian Martin stepped up in the shot put to finish 3rd overall with a 6cm PR. Justin Bannister added a 1cm PR.

James Kuleskowski made his triple jump debut with an 11.89 effort. James should give the team 2 40+ foot triple jumpers, with a 3rd very likely in Michael Jackson. Speaking of Trey, he came away with a 1cm PR in the long jump, he also ran nearly a 1 second PR in the 200. Cobey McGregory also added a 2cm PR in the high jump.

Luke Adair had a solid double PR day in both the 4x800 and the 800, with a section win in the open 800. Harlan Matson had a great run in the 600, breaking 1:30 and finishing 5th overall. Diego Arce had a strong run for a PR leg in the 4x800.

The upperclassmen sprinters were led by Christian Crowder who had some big breakout legs in both the 4x200 and 4x400. Joey Mikolaczyk ran a PR in the 400.

Lots of big positives to take away as the indoor season concludes. Now on to outdoor.
