Wildcats Are Off and Running

Friday, August 29 2025

The season is off and running. The Wildcats got things started at Oswego East, facing some of the best teams in the state.

The frosh/soph boys got things rolling with some very strong performances. The team was led by 3 guys who were only separated by 10 seconds, Caden de Graaf, Jimmy Gutmann, and Emerson Raino all ran strong races up front.

The varsity boys followed that up with a great team effort as well. Spencer Kazak led the way in his first ever XC race. Dominik Barrios moved up throughout the race and came second for the team. Also, big shout out to Aiden Churchill who had a great summer and got to see the fruits of that labor with an excellent race to start his season.

The girls ended the night for the team. Brooke Rochacz put herself in contention early, and despite not feeling her best, still ran a great race. Poppy Hohman finished 2nd for the team in her first ever XC race. Ashlynn Sabatini came away with a great race after a very strong summer to improve over 8 minutes from this meet last year.

16 athletes who raced at Oswego East last year, raced last night and had improved performances. This chart shows that improvement. The boys who ran 2 miles as sophomores last year have improvement based on average pace from last year (for 2 miles) to this year (for 3 miles).
