Bud Mohns Recap
Saturday, April 16 2022 - Downers Grove SouthOutdoor season is officially rolling. The Wildcats got to mix it up with some of the top teams in the area at the Bud Mohns Invitational at Downers Grove South. Steady improvement is starting to show all over the team, as the team had 20 personal best performances.
The sprint relays made some changes in line up and order with freshman Scott Frieshlag joining the mix and the chemistry looked good in both events and the future is looking good moving forward with the sprint relays. Ethan Obeng and Aaron Larkins both also dropped new PRs in the 100 meter dash to go with solid performances in the 4x100 and the 4x200.
Tyler Schick had a great race for a 2nd place finish in the frosh/soph 1600 as he closed like a mad man in 66 to run 4:48.
Paul DeAvila ran a big lifetime best in the open 800, and finished 4th in 2:00.83. He and Mike Forbear got the taste of a race that got out quick as they both came through the 400 in under 57.3.
The frosh/soph sprinters had some great PRs with Alex Haberkamp in the 100, and Christian Crowder in the 100 as well. Nick Papesh broke 60 for the first time in the 400.
The varsity 4x800 had two PRs from Jason Zigmant who led off in 2:07 and then was followed by Patrick Kacena in 2:11. Henry Matson ran just off his PR and Kyle Schick closed it out as he continues to get back into great shape.
Justin Matula continues his strong season with a 4 second PR in the 800.
Freshman Luke Adair mixed it up in the 3200 and ran a great race in 11:38. He had mad tremendous progress this season.
Bryan Underwood ran a solid PR in the 110 hurdles and was rolling in the 300 hurdles before a hurdle got in the way, but Bryan got up and finished the race strong.
Joey Mikolajczyk ran a PR in the 400 as well.
The team is back in action Wednesday at PHS against OE.
