A Great Night of PRs

Wednesday, May 5 2021 - SPC Tri Meet Yorkville and Joliet Central

On an overcast cool evening you needed an umbrella as it was raining PRs for the Wildcats on Tuesday night. The team had a great night of competition against Joliet Central and Yorkville. The team was led by 4 event winners. Connor O’Leary in the 200, Christopher Frazier in the long jump, Paul De Avila in the 3200 and Bryan Underwood in the frosh/soph 400.

The sprint crew had two new additions make their meet debut, Devin Kan and Colby Williams who both ran a strong 100/200 double, a great chance to compete and grow. In the 100, Nick Papesh, and Xavier Coffee ran lifetime PRs. In the 200, Connor O’Leary and Christopher Frazier ran to PRs.

The throwers had a great performance from Jay Coyler who earned the PR Chain with a double PR in the shot (4 foot PR!) and in the discus. Gabe Carrero also added a PR in the discus.

The distance crew took advantage of great competition and really good weather to rack up lifetime bests. Paul De Avila won the 3200 in the lifetime PR and was joined by Alex Rojo and Kyle Schick who also PR’d. In the 1600, Mike Forbear used a furious last lap (62.9) to run a big lifetime best of 4:35. Cam Mulyk broke 4:50 for the first time and just out leaned Aaron Wyckoff who also broke 4:50 for the first time. Tyler Schick inched every so close to 5:00 with a 10 second PR (5:01), Henry Matson took 10 seconds off his PR as well (5:08), not to be out done by his older brother Harlen Matson ran a PR (5:16), as did Jason Matula (5:20). In the 800, Aiden Fannin, Raymond Churchill, Jayson Matula, and Hunter Porn all ran PRs in some very aggressive racing.

The guys are back in action on Tuesday at home against West Aurora and Oswego East.
