Relays Shine

Wednesday, May 12 2021 - SPC Tri Meet West Aurora and Oswego East

Always competing and always improving. The Wildcats had a lot of strong performances as we hosted Oswego East and West Aurora. Taking advantage of every chance to race and compete, the team had 10 event winners on the night. At the varsity level: Tommy Adelmann (1600), Tyler Schick (3200), Bryan Underwood (300H), Patrick Todd (High Jump), Gabe Carrero (Discus), and the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. At the frosh/soph level Bryan Underwood (100), Raymond Churchill (1600) and Colby Williams (Long Jump).

The night was kicked off on the track with a great team performance in a very competitive 4x800 relay. Aiden Haughian, Mike Forbear, Paul De Avila, and Alex Rojo all ran lifetime bests in the relay to run the fastest time the Wildcats have run in 5 years. The distance 4x400 was 3 for 4 on PRs with Mike Forbear, Harlan Matson and Cam Mulyk all running PR splits.

Other great distance performances on the night were Alex Rojo coming back in the 1600 to get 2nd and run a PR. Jason Zigmant who ran nearly a 1 minute PR in the 3200. Aaron Wyckoff, Henry Matson and Patrick Kacena who all ran PRs in the 800. And Jayson Matula and Hunter Porn who ran lifetime best in the 1600.

The sprinters had some strong races as well. Devin Kan ran a PR in the 100, John Costa ran a PR in the 200, DJ Pearson ran a PR in the 200, and Will Dotson, Christian Crowder, Logan Bown and Gavin Schnowske all made their season debuts.

In addition to the big PR and the win for Gabe Carrero in the discus, Jay Coyler added a 2nd place in the shot put with a PR of 13 meters. Gavin Schyer also added a PR in the discus.

The Wildcats are back in action again next Tuesday at Joliet West.
