The Underclassmen Have a Day

Sunday, April 19 2026 - Bud Mohns Invite (Downers Grove South)

The underclassmen had a great day at Downers Grove South. The quartet of Greg Togle, Zain Quraishi, Xavier Jones, and Stanford Moss had a tremendous day. In the 4x100 relay they finished 3rd and set a new frosh/soph school record. Setting that record on a day with temps in the mid-40s with a 20+ mph cross wind, means that group has plenty more to give. Zain followed up with a strong run in the 100. Then the group was back in action with a first place finish in the 4x200. Xavier and Zain had more coming in the 200, with Xavier taking first overall and Zain taking 3rd. Stanford then led off the 3rd place 4x400 relay.

That 4x400 frosh/soph relay had multiple contributors as well, Brayden Lane finished 3rd overall in the 400. Joey Des Garennes finished 4th in the 800, and Caden de Graaf finished 14th in the 1600, with a section victory.

Jake Joseph got in on the victory action as well, with a great series in high jump, staying clean through 1.70, which secured 1st place overall in the frosh/soph division.

The big varsity highlight was from the triple jump, Jakub Banka finished 2nd overall (6 cm behind 1st), Curterry Clark finished 7th in that same event.

The underclassmen throwers had some big breakthroughs. Antounne Belk threw a nearly 2 meter PR in the shot put. Antounne has been putting in the work lately and it has been paying off. Zack Omiecinski had a big day with PRs in both the shot and the discus.

Emerson Raino had a nice PR with an aggressive run in the 3200.

Jonathon Solano ran PRs in both the 110H and the 300H, he just started doing some work in the hurdles in the last few weeks and it is really starting to pay off.

Overall, the team had a great day. In 2025, between varsity and frosh/soph the team scored 13 total points. Yesterday, the team scored 72 points between the two levels.

The team is back in action with a dual meet at Oswego East on Wednesday, and the next big test will be the Red Grange Invitational on Friday night at Wheaton Warrenville South.
